Postgraduate work in parasitology; Assistant Lecturer in Zoology, University College of Wales, Aberystwyth (1930-1973); Air Raid Warden, and teacher of First Aid (World War II); Lecturer (1937); Senior Lecturer (1947); received a grant from the Royal Society to purchase equipment (1948); Acting Head of Department (1948, 1969 and 1970); member of the Editorial Board of 'Parasitology' (1960-1970) and Chairman of the Board (1970-1981); Visiting scientist, University of Ghana (Accra) (1961); used part of a Shell Grants Committee grant to fund two months work at the Marine Biological Station, St George's West, Bermuda (1963); Reader in Zoology (1966); Professor (1971); first Welsh woman to be elected to the Royal Society; Chairman, School of Biological Studies (1972); retired (1973) but contined research as Professor Emeritus, School of Biological Sciences; appeared in an article on influencial British women in 'Vogue' (1975); Fellow, University of Wales, Cardiff (1981)
