General contextBrown ended up marrying Henrietta, daughter of his lecturer at St Bartholomew's Hospital, Dr Christopher Terne (FRS 1663). His notes to Terne's lecture were kept at the British Museum. His main work was his account of his journeys through Eastern Europe, and he also translated two 'lives' from Plutarch's work, Themistocles and Sertorius.
