OtherInfoDe Sousa's grandfather was Dutch and immigrated to Brazil from Antwerp. There he was a sugar dealer in Pernambuco and also drew charts of the Magellan Straits. De Sousa himself also displayed an interest in navigation and geography, although not much else is known about his personal life.
