Bosanquet was blind until the age of 18. His sight improved until he was middle-aged when he went blind again in one eye and continued to wear a scarf over it. He was one of the leading members of the committee for the London School for the Indigent Blind, founded in 1799.
The partners in the Bosanquet, Anderdon & Co bank owned multiple plantations in Nevis [Saint Kitts and Nevis] in the Caribbean, which used enslaved people for labour. Following the Slavery Abolition Act 1833, Bosanquet was awarded over £5,000 compensation for 358 enslaved people on three estates on Nevis.
