At Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto (2000-2005); recognized for his discoveries revealing the principles underlying cell signalling, which have been pivotal in understanding diseases such as cancer, with the Royal Society's Royal Medal. His fiedl of expertise known as transduction. Has discovered the underlying principles through wihich proteins in human cells interact with one another to construct a functioning cell, and to allow cells to communicatel Undrstanding how these cell signalling mechanisms work - and how abnormal cell signalling can lead to disease - is allowing reseachers to design new drug therapies and treatments for various diseases, including some forms of cancer; received Louisa Gross Horwitz Prize (2005) and Wolf Prioze in Medicine (2005) for his work in signal transduction.
