OtherInfoAs a support of the king during the Civil Wars, he was arrested in 1643, released in exchange for a parliamentary prisoner, but then re-captured at the siege of Newcastle in 1644. He was an experienced and respected merchant and appears frequently in Samuel Pepys' (FRS 1663) diary.
