General context | Unfortunately, very little is known about von Munchhausen's career or background. Originally from Danzig [Gdańsk], he is recorded in Robert Hooke's diary as being in London in 1677 and possibly lived and worked in England in the early 1680s. His bond to the Royal Society, in 1684, designates him as 'of London'. While he was never in the Society's printed lists, he still paid his subscriptions at a reduced rate. |
