OtherInfo | Dolaeus travelled widely for his studies and was taught by physician and surgeon Guy Patin in Paris and studied under Thomas Sydenham in London. He published multiple medical treatises during his life, which included information on 'secret remedies', the focus of his work 'Theriaca Coelestis' (1680). Unfortunately, little else is known about his medical practice and later life. He was not active in the Royal Society's work after his election. |
Source | Sources: Bulloch's Roll; Hunter; DBE; Hirsch; Hessian Biography Notes: Alternative spelling comes from Hunter, who also supplies the election date - index to BR and R only give the year - or rather the date his election was approved. Hunter offers 1651 as the year of his birth. DBE has Hanau in modern-day Hesse as place of death. |
