OtherInfoUnfortunately, little is known about Sylvius' familial background or his medical practice. It is likely that his name is the Latinized version of a French or Dutch original name. While he was never admitted into the Royal Society after his election, he was a very active member of the Dublin Philosophical Society. One of his surviving publications is a dissertation on fevers and their treatment.
