OtherInfo | Hiarne is best known as a chemist for his work on acid and the invention of a wood varnish to stop it from rotting. As a mineralogist he catalogued Sweden's minerals and natural resources and oversaw the methods of mining and melting them. Early on in his career he sought patrons of nobility and was himself ennobled in 1689. |
